Jenny Milchman introduced the world to Take Your Children to a Bookstore Day way back in 2010. The idea caught on and continues to grow with many stores joining in the effort to cultivate a love of reading in the young.
She encourages families to enjoy the day. She said, “On December 5th, 2015, take a child in your life to a bookstore. Watch his face light up as you give him free access, not just to a new book, but to tomorrow.”

Donald is looking forward to this special day! He will be at a local bookstore in Portland, Maine where this event will be held from 10 – 3.30 pm. The bookstore has “an amazing line-up of actors performing, and some of the most celebrated children’s authors and illustrators.”
The bookstore says “Every child who joins us at Longfellow Books can take home any title in the store (up to a $10 value) absolutely free!”
So if you are nearby, do come along and be part of bringing kids to the bookstore! This is a wonderful chance to share the love of reading and books with the children.
